Every year, the Wharton Impact Investing Partners (WIIP) seeks for-profit enterprises whose mission statements incorporate a dedicated goal of positive social or environmental impact.
In addition to this opportunity, WIIP participates in the annual MBA Impact Investing Network and Training (MIINT), an exciting initiative sponsored by Bridges Ventures and the Wharton Social Impact Initiative. MIINT culminates in a yearly competition among students from leading business schools, and the winner of this competition wins the opportunity to receive a $50,000 investment from an independent investor.
By participating in our investment process, entrepreneurs benefit in a variety of ways, including:
Possible funding from accredited independent investors through a Donor Advised Fund as well as the MIINT competition
WIIP-led diligence and strategy projects
Potential for Wharton students to act as interns with the entrepreneur
Timeline (approximate)
August – October: Submissions accepted
November – February: Diligence conducted
March – April: Investment decision
What are we looking for?
Eligible businesses should meet the following criteria:
U.S. domiciled companies focused on a clear social mission
Seed to early stage, seeking funding to grow
Profitable or has a clear plan to reach financial profitability
Currently raising equity funding (seed stage or Series A round) OR currently looking for additional capital
Provides a critical good or service in one or more of the following sectors: Education, Environment and Sustainability, Financial Inclusion, Health and Wellness, Food and Nutrition, Urban Development
Impact Investors
WIIP is currently fundraising to broaden its investment capabilities. We offer multiple partnership models, ranging from a Donor Advised Fund to direct and indirect investments.
